Anastasia Rose

Geospatial Analyst

April 2025

Anastasia Rose has traveled the world and is now mapping it as a T-Kartor Geospatial Analyst!

Growing up, she lived in several countries, so it's no surprise that she became interested in mapping the world around her. To name a few, she spent time as a child in Chile, the Dominican Republic, Mozambique, and Hungary! Her parents are teachers, and their love of education and adventures abroad encouraged Anastasia to follow her passions.

Anastasia studied Environmental Science and Geology at the University of Colorado in Boulder. While there, she took a GIS class, and everything fell into place—geospatial was easy for her to understand, and it fit with her love of maps.

After graduating, Anastasia moved to St. Louis and started as a contractor for T-Kartor in 2021 before being hired full-time in 2022.

The best careers also teach us lessons we can use in our personal lives. Anastasia has found that being a geospatial analyst has taught her new ways to be organized and efficient with projects at work and home. Another skill she has honed is staying confident while asking questions.

Anastasia speaks very highly of the culture at T-Kartor and appreciates the team's varying age range and academic backgrounds. She asserts that there is an emphasis on excellence and turning in good work, and this focus brings a positive drive to the team.

She is also thankful that the organization emphasizes staying connected during remote work with events such as company-wide trivia.

Quality control keeps T-Kartor's production and innovations at top grade, and Anastasia enjoys her involvement with this, including discussing projects and solutions with her colleagues. Collaborative environments shape strong teams, and Anastasia believes mapping is like a massive group project.

In her time in geospatial, Anastasia has already witnessed many changes. She predicts the industry's next decade will be marked by AI integrations and increased digitization. Digital mapping has taken center stage over analog mapping, so Anastasia wants to see how mobile and web mapping will improve.

Anastasia is also chiefly interested in how data from everyday life is organized, such as the intersection between geospatial data and solving true crime.

She echoes the sentiment that industry newcomers should always be open to asking questions, lean into their curiosity, and continue cultivating a learning mindset.

You'll find Anastasia taking breaks from screens after she logs off the day. She loves to craft and has multiple projects going at a time, most recently including crochet. She also has two dogs that keep her busy and spending time outside.

Now that Anastasia lives in New Orleans, she is excited to be near the water and spend time on the beach this summer. She strives to be active in her community and plans to volunteer at the Children's Museum in New Orleans and research recycling initiatives.
