Patrik Sylve

Project Manager/Production Lead

January 2025

Patrik Sylve has been a bright light in our Swedish office for nearly five years, where he serves as a software developer!

Originally from Uppsala, Patrik moved to attend Lund University, where he studied engineering, land surveying, economics, law, and programming. This rich educational background led to his Master's degree and a hunger to start his career. It was at this point that he found T-Kartor.

Patrik was eager to start at T-Kartor, as it was a perfect fit for his skill set. Since he started with the company in 2020, he had just two months to meet the team in the office before going remote with the rise of the pandemic. He still feels that the transition went well, and he clicked with the development team immediately.

At the time, the development team was much smaller than now; Patrik has enjoyed seeing the team grow and is thankful for the new responsibilities and opportunities that have come since.

Even during busy seasons, Patrik appreciates the challenges this job brings. He loves diving into the code and troubleshooting any problems he encounters. The open-source community and resources online are incredible, and he believes learning and developing new solutions is a welcome challenge.

A strong, welcoming culture is imperative for a successful company. Patrik describes T-Kartor's culture as a familial, comfortable atmosphere. He values having a good relationship with his colleagues.

Patrik predicts that AI will be used more in the geospatial industry in the coming decade. He is also excited to see the growth of the open-source community, which has already ramped up in recent years. He hopes that more people outside the industry will be aware of geospatial technology and recognize its impact on our daily lives.

Support makes all the difference—and that's what Patrik wants geospatial newcomers to know. He advises you to explore the field and not be afraid to plunge. Patrik believes the best intersection is finding what you like to do and what you are good at, and he has found this in programming.

After the workday, you can find Patrik hanging out with friends, playing music, and attending concerts. He loves music and plays the bass guitar.

A goal Patrik has for 2025 is to read more books!
